DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Description

The Veinlite NEO is a hand-held battery powered transillumination device for visualizing veins and arteries in neonates.

OPERATION

  1. Place the NEO LED Window [1] in contact with skin.
  2. Depress the End Button [2] to turn on the LED.
    Turn on Neo LEDs
  3. Apply gentle pressure to the NEO to maintain optimal skin contact.
  4. Device will turn off after cycling through the colors, (see selecting colors), or you can depress and hold the End Button [2] for one second to turn device off.
  5. When you turn on a device with a low battery the device will shut itself off.
  6. Device will shut off after approximately 4 minutes.

Brightness Control

Depress the Side Button [3] to change the brightness. Each depression of the button will cycle through low, medium, and high brightness levels. The lowest level is the default setting.

Selecting Colors:

Depress the End Button [2] each time to cycle through these modes:

Orange Optimal wavelength for contrast between the venous blood vessels and surrounding tissue.
Green Assist in finding arteries and veins.
White Exam light.

WARNING

DO NOT SHINE THE LED LIGHTS IN THE PATIENT’S EYES.

Note: Fragility of preterm infant epidermis is due to incomplete maturation of the skin barrier. Therefore, the Veinlite NEO should be used with care. The VNEO has been designed with a 4-minute auto shutoff and should not be used on the same epidermis location if further use of the device is required.

DISPOSABLE PLASTIC COVER

The NEO should always be used with a single-use disposable plastic cover to protect from contamination and prevent spread of infection between patients.

CAUTION: These plastic covers are not sterile. They should be wiped with a germicidal wipe prior to use.

  1. Place the NEO inside a disposable cover ensuring the flap is located away from patient. Check to make sure cover is intact.
  2. Prior to use wipe cover with germicidal.
  3. After use, discard single use disposable cover.

The device is shipped with 50 covers. Additional covers can be ordered from TransLite or authorized dealers.

Cleaning Instructions

Cleaning is not required when disposable covers are properly used. Germicidal wipes, used sparingly, may be used to clean device if needed. Do not submerge the unit in liquid.

WARNING

Veinlite NEO is designed for external examination only.

To avoid contamination, the Veinlite NEO must be used with the disposable plastic cover.

To avoid spread of infection, always change disposable plastic cover between patients and wipe the new cover with a recommended germicidal wipe.

Always turn the LEDs on after the device is in position.

Do not look directly at the LEDs when they are illuminated or shine directly into anyone’s eyes.

Do not immerse the device in liquid or autoclave

BATTERIES

Installing/Replacing Batteries

The NEO is powered by a single AAA battery.

  1. Press firmly on the Battery Cover [4] near the seam and slide it off.
  2. Remove used battery.
  1. Install new AAA battery, oriented as indicated by markings inside compartment.
  2. Slide Battery Cover into place.

ATTACHMENTS

Protective Cap

The purpose of the Protective Cap is to protect the End Button [2], Side Button [3], and LED Window [1]. Keep a disposable plastic cover on device to ensure a proper fit.

Attaching optional Lanyard

Attach lanyard to Cap [5].

The Protective Cap and lanyard should be cleaned regularly with alcohol or germicidal solution.

Warranty

The Veinlite NEO has a one-year parts & labor warranty.

Troubleshooting

Call or e-mail to obtain an authorization number and shipping details prior to returning device.

No refunds will be given for devices shipped without authorization.

LED Failure

If one of the LED fails to turn on, replace battery. If the problem persists contact TransLite for assistance.

No Light From Any LEDs

Replace battery, try turning unit on again. If device remains off, contact TransLite for assistance.
